Windows XP Dial-Up Wizard Walk-Through

This tutorial describes in detail how to connect your Windows XP computer to FrogNet for the FIRST TIME using the Windows XP Dial-Up Connection Wizard. It is intended for new customers, or current customers who are trying to connect a new machine to FrogNet for the FIRST TIME.


  1. Start your computer and wait for it to finish loading windows XP.

  2. Go to start->Control Panel

  3. Click on "Network and Internet Connections"

  4. Scroll down to the bottom of this screen and click on "Network Connections".

  5. Click on "Create a new connection." This will launch the Connection Wizard.

  6. Click Next.

  7. Click on "Connect to the Internet" Make sure a dot appears next to it. This means that is selected.

  8. Click "Set up my connection manually" then click "Next."

  9. Click "Connect using a dial-up modem" and click "Next."

  10. Select "Create a new Internet mail account", and click "Next."

  11. Set the connection name to "FrogNet" and click "Next."

  12. Pick the local dial up number closest to you from this map which lists our phone numbers accross the USA.

  13. Enter your FrogNet Username and Password. Look closely at the username that you entered. It should look like an email address. If your username is joefrog, then your username on this screen should look like joefrog@frognet.net if it doesn't add @frognet.net to the username. If you do not know what your frognet username is, look at your last bill. It will be listed as frognet login, account name, or username. Click Next. Make sure the firewall is off. Firewall setup is an advanced topic beyond the scope of this document.

  14. Check the "Add a shortcut" and hit "Finish."
