Q: What type of wireless network card should I purchase?
A: Any 802.11b card will work, but we recommend the EnGenius 802.11b (or anything manufactured by Senao using the Prism 2.5 chipset). This card is
recommended because it transmits at 200mW, which is about 6 times the power of your typical laptop 802.11b card. If you are having a hard time picking up a signal, you can
go for the EXT2 model, which allows you to clip on up to two antennae and extend your range.
Q: Where can I purchase a wireless network card?
A: The EnGenius card mentioned above can be purchased for $65 at Netgate (www.netgate.com), and $40 on eBay (www.ebay.com). Pricewatch (www.pricewatch.com)
is another good resource.
Q: Is my 802.11g card compatible with FrogNet Wireless?
A: Yes. 802.11g is compatible with 802.11b. 802.11b access points will work with 802.11g network cards and vice versa.
Q: What is a SID? What SID should I use?
A: SID stands for System Identifier. The SID is the identifying name of an 802.11b wireless network. FrogNet has several SID's; you should choose an
SID with "FrogNet" in the name. If multiple SID's are available, choose the one with the strongest signal.
Q: How fast is FrogNet Wireless?
A: Up to 11 Mbps.
Q: What if I am not in FrogNet's wireless coverage area?
A: Check the map below. Are you located in one of the white areas? Are you close? Let us know! We are expanding our wireless network based on demand so
tell your neighbors too.
