Genus: Phegopteris

The genus Phegopteris is a small one, differing from the other thelypterioid ferns by the round sori and lack of indusium. For this reason, the members were originally placed in Polypodium by Linnaeus.

There are only three species in Phegopteris: two in eastern North America, and one in the eastern Orient.

Species of Phegopteris:

  1. Phegopteris connectilis (northeastern North America)
  2. Phegopteris decursive-pinnata (Asia)
  3. Phegopteris hexagonoptera (eastern United States)
