Found a Pigeon? ![]()
If you on this page I assume you have
found a lost Homer....
** If it is injured or seems ill please email me for help
immediatly **
The most important thing is NOT to feed the bird. Giving it water is fine, but feeding it could cause it to stay permanantly.
Most times the bird has been lost in a race or on a training toss and will leave in 1 to 3 days. Once it rests and gets oriented again it will normally return home on it's own. If the bird has been with you awhile and does not seem inclined to leave, there is a way to find and contact the owner.
The colored band on it's right leg has
letters and numbers which are used to identify each and every
Homer. These are what you will need to locate the club and owner.
An example of a common band would be AU 00 MOV 12345.
AU = American Racing Pigeon Union
00 = the year the bird was born (ie: 2000)
MOV = the intials of the club
12345 = the birds ID number
Of course each band will be specific to the club and union.
Below I have provided links to the band list for each of the major unions. Just look for the club initials on the list, and the club contact will be listed there. They will be able to help you contact the specific bird owner.
If you have any trouble locating the club or contact person for that club, please feel free to email me.
