| season three |
| 3.1 The Pen Pal | Peter Marc Jacobson makes a cameo as a lounge lizard and Steve Posner is the gentleman who awards Fran her gold medal in the fantasy sequence. |
| 3.2 Franny and The Professor |
Michael McKean, who plays C.C.'s brother, also was in Jack and Spinal Tap with Fran. |
| 3.2 Franny and The Professor |
Charles Shaughnessy was actually on Celebrity Jeopardy. He holds the title of reigning champion after beating David Duchovny, Noah Wyle and other celebrities. He won $30,000 for a homeless shelter and also got a call from his own childhood nanny congratulating him.
|
| 3.2 Franny and The Professor | John Glenn Bishop plays Stewart in this episode; he also played the patient that urged Max to "Get out now" in 1.6 Imaginary Friend. And Sue Goodman, the other contestant on Jeopardy has done lots of episodes. |
| | 3.2 Franny and The Professor |
Back in the kitchen after Fran wins on Jeopardy, she is on the phone complaining that she only has 5 boxes of Rice-a-Roni. And she does. But after she hangs up the phone and Max comes into the room, lo and behold there are 6 in the stack. Now either it's an error, or she lied to the Jeopardy people about how many boxes she received. |
| 3.5 Val's Apartment | When Fran and Val are at the kitchen table, Fran pours cream in her coffee. The cream is at her right hand side. Just a second later the cream is at her left hand side and again she pours cream in her coffee.
|
| 3.5 Val's Apartment |
Toward the end of the show, just before Sylvia arrives, Fran walks into the living room with a full clothes basket. She talks to Max for a moment, Sylvia rings the doorbell, and Fran turns to answer the door, setting down her now-empty basket! |
| new!! | 3.6 Shopaholic | At the end of the episode, Fran is holding a paper cup from In n' Out Burgers, which is a California only chain. Since the show is set in New York it's not real logical to have chosen that cup. |
| 3.7 Oy Vey You're Gay | Fran Drescher appeared on People Magazine's Worst Dressed List, the same one Fran Fine mentions in this episode. |
| 3.7 Oy Vey You're Gay | Right before Max enters with Sydney, keep an eye on Niles. When Max comes in, suddenly he is holding a vase that he hadn't been before. |
| 3.7 Oy Vey You're Gay |
Maxwell took his ring off during the middle of the episode while "dating" his gorgeous publicist Sydney, and it magically appears again in the elevator scene with Fran at the end when she falls on top of him. [Although, I understand that the line was cut that explained that. When it was taped, Fran gave the ring back when he realized he wasn't ready to date yet. Why they would cut a line that was so vital to the storyline I will never understand.] Also interesting note from Enter Whining; those started out as a stunt double for Fran's feet but in the end she had do part of the scene herself. |
| 3.8 The Party's Over | Watch Fran's hair in the scene in the courtroom. The syle changes from a "big" version that is puffy in front, to a version that is flatter and parted in the middle. |
| 3.8 The Party's Over | The tag scene, Fran's lawyer asks Val: "Can I try
it on?" It sounds like Fran's characteristic laugh off camera as the words "Assistant
Director Jody Margolin" appear. |
| 3.9 The Two Mrs. Sheffields | In the opening scene quarrel between Fran and Mrs. Sheffield (Max's mother), Fran says, "The royal wedding pictures; looked like Mama's Family." This was an inside reference since Dorothy Lyman, at the time resident director of The Nanny, co-starred as 'Mama's' daughter-in-law in Mama's Family. |
| | 3.9 The Two Mrs. Sheffields | In the scene with CC and Mrs Sheffield drinking coffee in the
kitchen, Mrs Sheffield says: "Let's just pray that she'll take good care
of the children." Watch CC's hands: she's holding the cup with one hand, the angle changes and Fran enters and suddenly she's holding the cup with both hands. |
| 3.10 Having His Baby |
Monica Baker is played by Donna Dixon, Dan Akroyd's wife and one of Fran's good friends. |
| 3.10 Having His Baby |
This isn't really a blooper, but during the car ride around the house, how does the kid get his car down the steps in the hallway while he is chasing Niles at high speed? |
| 3.11 Unkindest Cut | Watch the bris scene. Sylvia Drescher and Elaine Rich are visable in the background of the party. |
| 3.11 Unkindest Cut | In the scene where the family goes to LA & they're walking on the lot looking for Studio 6 - is that the outside of TN's studio? Or is it just my imagination? |
| 3.12 The Kibbutz | Nanny Math:
Fran and Val were 16 and under the Bo Derek "10" cornrow influence as they watched a young, hip Max and a brunette, bespectacled CC on TV, so that would put her born in 1964. |
| 3.12 The Kibbutz | The young man that plays Yelsi's son at the very end of the show is Michael Dow, a member of the production staff. |
| 3.12 The Kibbutz | Brenda Cooper was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Costuming for a Series for this episode. |
| 3.14 Fashion Show | Try to follow this: When Fran and the family go to the Premiere, Fran is wearing and is photographed in a leopard print dress. But when the issue of "Gloss Magazine" is published and we get a quick look at the photos in the office scene, the dress isn't the leopard dress, but appears to be the flame dress that Fran holds up later as the costume suggestion for Emily, one of the characters in Our Town. The magazine they used in that scene appears to be a copy of People Magazine's Best and Worst Dressed issue that Fran was featured in that year. |
| 3.16 The Grandmas | When Gracie finally goes off on her playdate and Fran phones the other house, she is speaking to "Mrs. Lombardi." Frank Lombardi is a writer on the show--although he did not write this episode. |
| 3.18 Love Is Many Blundered Thing | Watch in the first scene in the kitchen, when Brighton is giving his opinion about Valentine's Day. In one shot, his arms are by his side holding a banana, then they are crossed on his chest (no banana), then they are back at his sides with the banana. |
| 3.18 Love Is Many Blundered Thing | In the scene with Fran and Val at the bus stop, Val says: "Oh, an anonymous Valentine's card from a secret admirerer, who's it from?" Watch her
hand, now it's on Fran's arm, the angle changes, and she has her hands together. |
| 3.20 Where's The Pearls? | Renee Taylor was nominated for the Outstanding Supporting Actress for a Comedy Series Emmy for this episode and "The Cantor Show" |
| 3.21 The Hockey Show | Fran Drescher was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress for a Comedy Series for this episode. |
| | 3.21 The Hockey Show | In the opening scene, watch the popcorn that gets stuck in the girls hair. The pieces appear, disappear and move, especially on Val. |
| | 3.21 The Hockey Show | When Fran is about to open the door to let Mike LaVoe in, her purse changes back and forth between her hands as she says "I can't believe you're acting like a bunch of idiots over some guy [the purse jumps to her left hand] believe me, it's cuter on me [the purse jumps back to her right hand]" |
| | 3.21 The Hockey Show | At the game, we see the backs of the some NY Rangers jerseys scrambling for the puck. The names on two of the jerseys are Minsberg and Wallack....Janice Minsberg, associate prod., and Gabrielle Wallack, production coordinator. |
| | 3.22 That's Midlife | This episode is featured in the A&E Biography profile of Dr. Joyce Brothers with a clip of the scene in which she played herself filling in for Dr. Bort. The narration mentioned that the first of her 2 TN appearances marked her return to sitcom guest roles after her real-life husband's illness and death.
|
| 3.23 The Cantor Show | Sarah from the temple reappears in episode 4.13 Kissing Cousins. In that episode, she is the mother of the bride so one would assume that her daughter Rachel got married. And since Fran was the bridesmaid at her cousin's wedding, one has to assume that Sarah is her aunt and Rachel is her cousin. |
| 3.23 The Cantor Show | The actor that plays Gary the Cantor was in the movie Gorp with Fran and Peter. |
| 3.24 Green Card | Gloria Giford plays the INS officer that interviews Fran and Phillipe. She reappears in 4.17 "Samson He Denied Her" as one of the attorneys. |
| new!! | 3.24 Green Card | During the scene with Sylvia and Philippe in the kitchen, watch their positions during the line "Not kicking myself as like someone else must be in this room must be." They move about 3 feet to the right magically. |
| 3.25 Ship of Fran's | The captain of the ship is played by the real Captain of the ship. |
| 3.25 Ship of Fran's | Watch the level of Fran's drink in the scene when she and Mr. Sheffield are talking over the days events. The level of the drink rises and falls several times over the course of that scene. |
| 3.26 Pup In Paris | The dog they used while in Paris is not really Chester. Chester's nose is white and this dog's was brown (and Chester is much prettier than this stunt doggy.) Plus, during the montage of the shopping trip, Chester is with them in some of parts and in some other sections he's mysteriously missing. No animal continuity! |
| 3.26 Pup In Paris | Watch Fran's hands during the "I Love You" scene on the plane. As Fran and Max grab each other, Fran's hands are down around Max's chest. Then they are cupping his face, then they are down around his chest again. |
