Estimating Residential Property 'Market Value'
Based on Property Tax 'Assessed Value'

In general, Residential Real Estate taxes in Athens County are based on Property Value Appraisals performed every six years.  From these appraisals, an 'Assessed Value' is determined, and appears on your Real Estate Tax bill in the small box immediately to the right of the 'Real Estate Taxes' invoice heading.

For tax purposes, the 'assessed value' is approximately 35% of the Fair Market Value of the Land and Building(s) at the time of the last appraisal.

To estimate this Fair Market Value, locate the 'assessed value total' on your most recent Real Estate Tax bill, and enter it in the search box on the next page.
